Welcome To Huckleberries
“Learning Through Play”
We believe that children learn through play and experiences within our community
All activities offered are age appropriate and adapted to the different abilities of the children. Some of the activities include; art, building/construction, sensory play, science, reading, dramatic play, music and movement, manipulative puzzles, pegboards threading etc, gross motor activities – running, climbing, jumping, balancing etc
Free and Unstructured Play
Free and unstructured play in the outdoors boosts problem-solving skills, focus and self-discipline. Socially, it improves cooperation, flexibility, and self-awareness. Emotional benefits include reduced aggression and increased happiness. “Children will be smarter, better able to get along with others, healthier and happier when they have regular opportunities for free and unstructured play in the out-of-doors,” concluded one authoritative study published by the American Medical Association in 2005.
We offer the children the opportunity to construct knowledge through daily experiences and encounters with teachers, peers, events, and objects in the world. This is how the children develop theories, negotiate learning and merge thoughts together; thereby building knowledge and understanding
